Joshua's Testimony
I was raised in Parkersburg, WV. I was led to Christ by my parents as a four year old boy. I understood that I was a sinner; lost and bound for Hell without Christ. I learned that Jesus paid the price for my sin and wanted to be my Savior. By faith, I repented of my sin and asked Jesus Christ to save my lost soul. Later, at the age of nine, I made sure of my salvation. I was baptized by immersion in an Independent Baptist Church.
God has always been working and leading in my life. I attended public school and by God’s grace I was able to be a witness for Christ. I led fellow classmates to Jesus. At the age of 12, I had the privilege of leading my football coach to the Lord. I was greatly involved in sports until high school. I had dreams of playing in the NFL. But God had other plans for me.
At the age of 14, God was dealing with me about his will for my life. That summer, our church youth group attended Camp Victory in Somerset KY. God called me to preach that week and I met the girl who would become my wife. God continued to direct in my life and the following year at Camp Victory, Isurrendered my life to be a missionary. I went back home and told the football coaches that I would no longer play football. They told me that I was to be the starting fullback for the defending state champions. But God was leading me into better things.
I began to participate in the soul winning and visitation programs at the church on Thursdays and Saturdays. My friend and I started a Bible Club at Parkersburg High School and would meet early to go through the halls to confront fellow students about Christ. I got involved with Child Evangelism Fellowship and taught VBS and five day clubs through the summers. I took 4 years of Spanish under some of the best teachers in the state. I learned how to play guitar. Then, God led my future wife and me to attend Crown College.
Jennifer and I were married May 29, 2004. God used our time as members of Temple Baptist Church and students at Crown College to teach us many lessons. We have come to know God and His Word in a greater way. We were able to serve Him especially in the Spanish Speaking Ministry. I have been privileged to participate in soul wining & visitation, lead souls to Christ, help disciple converts, preach, teach, lead singing, sing specials, coordinate the music calendar, and interpret services; all using the Spanish language. Over the years, God used His Word, other Christians, and circumstances to call us to start churches in Argentina.
Once we knew His call, we sought to take a survey trip to Argentina. Our son Joel was born on July 2, 2008. In March of 2009, we traveled as a family to Argentina and God confirmed His call to us. May 4, 2009, I graduated with a degree in Biblical Missions from Crown College. A month and a half later, we moved back to Jennifer’s hometown of Franklin, KY where we are sent out as missionaries to plant churches in Argentina. Our goal is to be on the field by January of 2011. God has led us this far, and we look forward to seeing his mighty hand continue to work in our lives! May God use us to reach the world through the people of Argentina!
