Packing and Praying

We had a great Training Week at All Points Baptist Mission.

We are charged up and ready to get back to Argentina with our spiritual tanks full. We have a wonderful Saviour and it was nice to be around old friends to remind us of the great things that God has done in and through us in the past. We are looking forward to great things in the road ahead.

I’m afraid that I too often I look at the size of the task, or the difficulties, or my own failures and forget to be, “looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.” When you look at him, it changes your attitude.

Pray for wisdom in packing.
We are still working hard at getting everything sorted and packed away to take to Argentina with us on August 28. We plan to take 10 checked suitcases/storage bins besides carry on bags, car seats, stroller, backpacks, and of course, my guitar. We also have to organize what will be left and stored and what will be sold or thrown away.

We will be flying out of Atlanta instead of Nashville to save over $1200. We thank the Lord for the pastor of a supporting church near ours who will be driving us down. We need wisdom and physical strength to complete these tasks.

Pray for houses to sell.
I would like to ask special prayer for the church family that allowed us to rent a house from them during our furlough. They took the house off the market to rent it to us at a steep discount and be a blessing to us. Please pray that their house sells quickly at a great price. I would like to see God bless them for blessing us.

While we’re praying for houses to sell, please pray for my mother in law’s house to sell as well. The sale of the house is all that is left to close out the estates of Jennifer’s grandmother and mother after their passing this past year.

The Lord answered our prayer.
We found a temporary place to rent for a month while we search for a long term rental house. It is a little farther away than we would have hoped, but we are happy to be staying in a furnished 2 bedroom house with a kitchen, living room, and yard for over $1000 less than it would have cost to stay in a cramped hotel downtown. Praise God for his provision.

It typically takes a month or so to move into a long term rental due to searching and paperwork.  Once the family is settled, it will be easier to focus on a location to meet.

Pray for good “goodbyes."
Last weekend, we are said goodbye to my family in the Parkersburg, West Virginia area.  Over the next few days, we will be saying farewell to Jennifer’s family in the Kenctucky area.

Pray for health.
Joel had oral surgery to remove a couple of teeth and get some fillings and crowns. For several years after chemotherapy it was a big challenge to take care of his teeth. Now he loves it! But the damage was done and had to be dealt with.

I was recently diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. Not the kind of news I wanted to hear at 29, but it was clearly due to my own choices. I have started to change the way I eat and exercise and have already lost over 10 pounds since I found out. I would appreciate special prayer as I develop better habits. My desire is to not require medication.

I guess the good thing is that a lot of the food and drink I would miss in Argentina, I already can’t have anymore anyhow!

Thank you for your prayers !

Clifty Road Baptist Church

God blessed this weekend! We spent Sunday AM in Franklin at Faith Baptist Chuch. We left for Somerset, KY to go to Clifty Road Baptist Church pastored by Randy Wiles. The Pastor and the people treated us very well.

We set up our display; I played "All That Thrills My Soul Is Jesus" on the guitar. There were smiles on many faces as we sang "There's Just Something About That Name". We sang "Little Is Much When God Is In It". I found out afterwards that those are two of the church's favorite songs. I was able to present the ministry Christ has given us, then I preached from 2 Kings 7 "We Do Not Well." We do not well (1) to hide our treasure, (2) to hold our peace, or (3) to tarry till morning.

May God bless the people of Clifty Road for their generosity!

Camp Victory

We just arrived in Franklin, KY after a couple days at Camp Meeting at Camp Victory in Somerset, KY. God has used the people associated with the camp in a great in our lives. I was called to preach there, surrendered to be a missionary, met my wife, married my wife, and countless times, I have received spiritual refreshment.

My wife and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary, yesterday the 29th!

We met with many pastors, and passed out lots prayer cards. We hope to schedule many meetings as a result of this visit. Sunday PM, we plan to be with Pastor Randy Wiles of the Clifty Road Baptist Church in Somerset, KY.

I was told that in Pulaski County KY, there are about 150 Baptist churches among a popluation of about 60,000. In the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, with a population of around 14 million, I would be suprised if there were 30 Baptist churches.

May the Lord allow us to raise our support quickly so we can get to Argentina, and get to work!
